China Woes Weigh Heavily on U.S. Equities

The S&P 500 Index closed on Friday at 1,922.03, down 6% on the week. This decline is the worst start to a New Year in history. The market broke significant support levels in the 1,990 and 1,950 area. With the Nasdaq 100 and the Russell 2000 small cap Index down more than 10% from their 52-week highs and the S&P 500 Index a hair’s breadth away at -9.8%, we are once again in correction territory.
